Plastic Amie — TikTok Fame, ADHD, and the Art of Laughing at Yourself

ree

If you’ve spent any time on TikTok in the last couple of years, chances are you’ve already met Plastic Amie. She’s the crazy online comedy character with the big personality, the even bigger “plastic surgery” filter, and the knack for making you laugh out loud in public when you least expect it.

But behind the million followers, the viral comedy skits, and the wild fake storylines (did she really imprison her ‘dead’ husband and flee to Cyprus?!) is Comedy Content Creator, Amie Scott — a quick-witted, refreshingly honest woman from England - who’s still figuring it all out, just like the rest of us - and now she's taking her first foray into acting too

.

In episode 3 of Still Kicking: The Older & Wiser Podcast, Actor, Director and Writer, David Schaal chats with Amie about her amazing rise to fame. 5 Years ago, back in April 2020, Amie was training to be a firefighter, juggling her work and busy family life alongside coping with ADHD, and being a Mum to her two children. After becoming unwell with Covid, she had to give up the Firefighter training & she began posting lighthearted videos in lockdown to keep herself entertained.

Then, one skit went viral, racking up over a million views, and everything changed. Fast forward to 2025, and her @plasticamie account now boasts a million followers, 41 million likes, and fans that include comedy icons Michael Barrymore and, yes, David Schaal himself - who recently cast her in a supporting role in the first independent film he's been directing.

But this conversation isn’t just a victory lap celebration - it also gives Amie's 1 Million fans a chance to get to know the real person behind the comedy characters and outrageous storylines, and get some insight into her creative process and her mindset . Amie is wonderfully open about the behind-the-scenes stuff — the self-doubt that sneaks in even when you’re smashing it, the ADHD brain that refuses to stick to one idea for long, and the creative tightrope walk of making content that’s both authentic and funny.

On the podcast Amie talks openly about the not-so-glamorous side of content creation — the constant creative pressure, the mental health wobbles, and that persistent voice of “Who do you think you are?” (hello, imposter syndrome). She shares how ADHD shapes her creative process, from bursts of hyper-focus to hopping between ideas at lightning speed, and why embracing this has actually helped her storytelling.

You’ll hear about her character “Plastic Amie,” born from humor and relatability, how she weaves absurd comedy into everyday life (dancing in front of refuse collectors, anyone?), and why she believes staying true to yourself matters far more than just chasing the algorithm.

There’s also a brilliantly funny story involving a snake — because, of course with Amie Scott there is always a crazy "Storyline" to make you laugh .

True to the Still Kicking: Older and Wiser Podcast ethos, this isn’t just about the laughs — it’s also about the grit, the stumbles on the journey, and the joy of refusing to give up on a dream, even when the internet can be a mixed bag of love and criticism.

Whether you’re an aspiring comedian, a fellow ADHD-brained creative, or just someone who needs a reminder that it’s okay to be imperfect and still shine, Amie’s inspiring story will have you grinning from start to finish.
